Daydream

Walking on the Isle of Skye, I allowed myself to get caught up in the enchantment of the landscape. I was drawn to it's exquisite colours and sort tones.

Boat House

Lindisfarne harbour just before sunrise. Beautiful glow and soft tones of colour and light. People use these upturned boats to store their boating equipment in.

Lindisfarne Castle

A long exposure of Lindisfarne Castle, taken during the evening golden hour in summer. The setting sun was creating these beautiful pink colours in the sky, and the long exposure really allows those colours to stretch out with the clouds. The wind was strong and so I had to shield my tripod from being blown around whilst I took the shot.

Etherial Light - Remote Britain Project

A drive through the Cuillin mountains on the Isle of Skye left me mesmerised by the beam of light that shone through the snow clouds for a brief moment. Shortly after sunset, the light was only this low for a few minutes, giving off a glorious glow. I captured this photo using an SLR camera with Kodak Ektar 100 film - a wonderfully grainy film that provides a depth of colour that's unrivalled in the digital world.

The little house

The little house captivated me for its position in a raw and barren landscape on the Isle of Tiree. The island is known for being very flat, giving you far reaching views across out towards the other Hebridean islands. To the right of the photo you can see the island's only hill.

Looking out over Inner Sound and a little island called Pabay in the Scottish Hebrides.

Puffin with eyes closed

It's rare to see photos of Puffin's with their eyes closed. I photographed this one on Staple Island, Northumberland. The Puffin was standing on a rock with his catch in his mouth and as I closed the shutter he happened to blink. I love the colour of his eye lids.

Fairies

The fairy pools on the Isle of Skye were hard frozen, with snow everywhere. Such a beautiful view! After walking passed the pools I looked back and enjoyed the soft evening sunlight washing over the valley.

Say 'cheese'

This little sheep gave me no choice, he was going to have his portrait taken. I climbed up the steep bank on a rainy day on the Isle of Harris, and he was there to meet me, waiting for his chance to be photographed. I love the tones in this photo.

Harbour veiw

There was so much I loved about this view from the Isle of Tiree. Looking out towards the Isle of Mull and Iona, where the sun beamed down just after sunrise I was captured the colours. Turquoise water in the harbour, orange and yellows in the clouds and lush green grass. So contrasting and powerful.

Dunstanburgh Dawn

Dawn light over Dunstanburgh Castle, Northumberland. This is a windy stretch of the coastline with waves crashing against the bank as you walk along the route to the castle. I stood on an unusually calm morning before sunrise and shot this long exposure to allow the clouds to stretch out in the frame.

Fire in the sky

As the sun rose over the mountains that surround Loch Carron, in the highlands of Scotland, I was drawn to the dawn rays that shot out through the valleys as shafts of red light, like a fire in the distance.

The old battery

Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Lundy Island boasts some beautiful scenery and unhindered views of the sunset. This photo was taken during the spring above the old battery.
